Over the last few months 45 teachers in Lesotho took part in 7 online workshops led by the British Council South Africa. These sessions were conducted by Teams and also used Google Classroom. Teachers were invited from 9 Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning clusters across Lesotho. We asked them to reflect on their experiences. Here is Matlotliso Moeti’s story

Name: Matlotliso Moeti

School: Katlehong Primary School

District:Thaba_Tseka

I signed up for the course because I was assigned to,I didn’t expect much out of it.

The best part was when we were talking about the core skills such as critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and imagination and others.Another part was cooperative learning strategies like jigsaw, number heads together and others.

My final thoughts on the course is that this is the refresher course I needed, but I was not aware that I need this.

What I learned:

  1. In core skills I learned that teachers must equip learners with core skills to prepare them for the life challenges and to be globally competent. As teachers we must use cooperative learning strategies so that learners can learn from each other and share their knowledge,we must instill collaboration spirit within our learners. With the use of variety of questioning technics our learners can be creative, critical thinkers, problem solvers and so on.

2. Partnership– In order to build a sustainable partnership partners must identify their common objective and plan together in order to achieve it.They must know each other’s strengths so that they can know who can do what the best.I learned about Belbin team roles.

WHAT NEXT?

I had started disseminating the information to my colleagues so I will complete the dissemination process so that the whole school can put what we have learned into practice.
