Over the last few months 45 teachers in Lesotho took part in 7 online workshops led by the British Council South Africa. These sessions were conducted by Teams and also used Google Classroom. Teachers were invited from 9 Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning clusters across Lesotho. We asked them to reflect on their experiences. Here is ‘Mantitsi Hlabana’s story:

Name:’Mantitsi Hlabana

School:Mokotjana Primary

District:Thaba Tseka

I really enjoyed the online course. I thought it was well planned, flexible and easy for me to follow. I have had learnt a lot from unknown to known information as I enjoyed to use internet than ever. I also like the fact that my tutors were clear and understandable. This course was really a flexible opportunity that enables the teachers to set their own learning pace. Studying online teaches me time management skills and to do a course with anyone in the world. My expectations for online learning were to acquire skills on creating learner centered classroom, to be given quality materials free of charge and to be awarded motivational certificates.

I have learned that connecting classroom is a flexible journey for schools around the world of learning. Teachers share knowledge and collaborate internationally. The Lesotho and other African countries communicate and collaborate with the UK schools to focus on SDG. Teachers get the chance to share their experiences and learn from each other. As this is my first online course, I am so happy to be part of it and I am looking forward to taking more online classes.

At my school, I would love to use different methods of teaching and cooperative learning strategies, create learning that is learner centric, implement core skills to learners as well as other teachers. Focus on SDG, collaborate and communicate with our partnering school in Wales.
