Over the last few months 45 teachers in Lesotho took part in 7 online workshops led by the British Council South Africa. These sessions were conducted by Teams and also used Google Classroom. Teachers were invited from 9 Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning clusters across Lesotho. We asked them to reflect on their experiences. Here is Mopa Sylvia Makakane’s story

I thought that the course is going to be about the Wales Lesotho link activities between partner schools.
I signed up because my colleague told me about the course and I wanted to learn more about the British council and the activities done in the course.
My expectations were to be equipped with strategies that can help me to improve my teaching and learn from other participants how they work. Share some teaching techniques and materials to increase learners’ performance to cover wasted time due to the pandemic of Covid 19.
The best part of the programme is whereby we were working in groups with people from other places, being equipped with strategies that will ease our work at the same time improve our teaching through learner centred learning. We were given different ways of develop critical thinking amongst our learners and to work together as partner schools as well as our colleagues.
This course has been very important because it has given us an opportunity to reflect back on our teaching and to refresh in order to be more prepared for our work and to apply more skills as well as teaching approaches that will enable learners to acquire skills that can improve their performance.
I am going to work together with my principal and colleagues whom I was with in the course to pass the information to our entire school community in order to implement what we have learned. At the end of this month before schools reopen we are going to have a workshop whereby I will be presenting about strategies of cooperative learning.
I am looking forward to it and hope that this will continue to help us at my school.
