When Gemma was 10 she had the incredible opportunity to visit Tanzania on a teacher placement programme with her mum and sister. In 2008, after a successful year as co lead ambassador at City Academy Bristol, Gemma was awarded most organised student, a skill she has taken into her career as a primary school teacher. Gemma is currently working part time at a school in Cardiff. Following her graduation she completed a masters degree in educational practice.

In 2024, when the opportunity to work at Dolen Cymru as a personal assistant came around it felt like a perfect fit to combine her previous experiences. It has been lovely to be welcomed into the Dolen family.

For fun Gemma enjoys puzzles, crafting, camping and trips to the beach.

Tracey joined Dolen in February 2026 as Heritage Project Lead for the ‘Wales as an outward-looking nation – The story of St Davids and Matsieng’ project. 

She moved to west Wales in 2023 after 23 years in London and is enjoying getting to know the local community and the wonders of the coastal path and local beaches. 

She started her career in museums, working at the Brontȅ Parsonage Museum in Haworth, before making a move into publishing. She has worked as an editor and a commissioning editor for the official publisher of the Church of England and for SPCK. She has also worked as a resource producer for The Children’s Society, a charity supporting children’s wellbeing. In 2023, she published a book From Coffin Grease to Love Feasts on her own family’s religious and social history. 

In her spare time, she is researching a new book on pilgrim paths around St Davids and enjoys walks with her miniature schnauzer, Peggy.
