We were very lucky to send two of our Jolly Phonics Trainee Trainers to Namibia earlier this year to join other trainers from Jolly Futures. Namibia has adopted a country wide roll out of the literacy scheme and two of our Basotho leaders were able to take part in leading the workshops to Primary school teachers.

“I learnt the perfect way of delivering the content. I discovered the changes, development and upgrades on the content of Jolly Phonics. I also experienced and had a closer look of a remotely controlled leadership on the actual ground. I learnt the importance of unity of co-workers, it provides easy management. For the first time I learnt how to present using the slides as expected. I met the Namibian coordinator who happens to be one of the pioneers of Jolly Phonics in Namibia and her interesting story got me encouraged.”

As Dolen’s Literacy officer and Jolly Phonics trainer-to-be, I went to Namibia to be involved in the training of teachers to roll-out Jolly Phonics into their schools. So Dolen fully supports Jolly Phonics, that where they contributed a lot to our trip. We were so exited to be joining the experienced trainers, and having got an opportunity to train those teachers. One of the reasons Dolen selected us is that we gain experience so that we can help Lesotho teachers.
We have acquired training skills that we did not have before. We were equipped with the skills and strategies to use when delivering trainings. We have made a connection with other trainers from different countries.
I would like to thank Dolen Cymru for giving me this opportunity so I can bring positive difference in my country.
After undergoing online training with Jolly Futures, submitting video assignments and leading local workshops in Lesotho, they were observed and assessed in Namibia. They are now officially accredited and have pride of place on the Jolly Futures website. Well done to you both!
