Michael German
Lord (Michael) German is a Member of the House of Lords, and a former Deputy First Minister and Party leader in the then National Assembly. Lord German has been a frequent visitor to Lesotho and has engaged with the Parliament of Lesotho in strengthening their democratic functioning. He helped broker the signing of the partnership protocol between the Welsh Government and the Government of Lesotho, and was deeply involved in the State visit of H M King Letsie to Wales.
Before a full-time career in politics, he was originally a High School teacher in Cardiff, and then headed the European Unit of the WJEC. He served as a City Councillor in Cardiff for 12 years.
In the House of Lords he takes an active interest in international development matters, including the Kingdom of Lesotho. He is currently a Commissioner of the House of Lords and Chair of the Parliament Choir.
