Over the past 25 years Dolen Cymru has been dedicated to creating life changing links between Wales and Lesotho in fields of education, health, governance and civil society.
Identified by the UN as a least developed country and with more than a third of its population suffering from HIV/AIDS, with an average life expectancy of less than 40 years, Lesotho is in need of support, training and educational development.

The WRU has selected Dolen Cymru as their charity of the day for the Wales v Scotland match. This is a brilliant opportunity to promote the life changing links that the charity has created between Wales and Lesotho.
We have TWO tickets available for volunteers which will be drawn just before the start of the match,

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to links between wales and our twin country lesotho, North Wales doctor and community leader Dr Carl Clowes was awarded the highest civilian honour given by the government of Lesotho.
Dr Clowes who was one of the founder members of Dolen Cymru, an organisation which has been supporting links between Wales and the land-locked African country of Lesotho was admitted as a member of the most loyal order of Ramatseatsana in a ceremony in Leribe in Lesotho on Friday 17th of July, the 46th birthday of the king of Lesotho, Letsie III.
Dr Clowes, who is the Lesotho honorary consul to Wales was pleased to accept the honour on behalf of the hundreds of committed people in both countries who have worked tirelessly for the Wales Lesotho link since it was formed in 1985.
"This honour was a great surprise to me and my family and I was pleased to accept it on behalf of all those dedicated people across wales and lesotho who have given their time and commitment to make the link work" explained Dr Clowes.
"Dolen was the first country to country twinning and has been pivotal to the awareness of the people in Wales that they can make a difference through real partnership and spending the time to learn and grow together as people."
Dolen Cymru, whose patron is Prince Harry, has led the way in education and health links and in recent years has seen great strides to develop civil society links with new links being formed between members of the commonwealth parliamentary association in Wales and the national assembly in Lesotho.
To celebrate their 25th birthday, Dolen Cymru has launched an appeal to raise £250,000 to help build and furnish an education and resource centre in Lesotho.
